Gabriels, c’est un groupe américain composé d’un chanteur (Jacob Lusk) et de deux producteurs. Le trio a sorti en décembre dernier un très court album de 5 magnifiques chansons, dont celle qui lui donne son titre « Love and hate in a different time ».
Leur musique voyage entre le Rhythm & Blues, le Gospel et la Soul, et surtout entre les époques. Les sonorités cuivrées et vintage s’entremêlent à des tempos modernes, tandis que la voix subtile et puissante de Jacob Lusk nous évoque celles de Benjamin Clementine, Antony and the Johnsons, ou encore Her. Le chanteur est par ailleurs très investi dans une chorale évangéliste de Los Angeles. Cette influence gospel participe à sa signature vocale. Un groupe discret, mais à suivre de près.

The copper and vintage sounds mix up with modern tempos, as Jacob Lusk's subtle and powerful voice reminds us of Benjamin Clementine, Antony and the Johnsons, or Her. The singer is also very invested in an evangelist choir in Los Angeles. This gospel influence participates in the bands' vocal signature. A discreet band to follow.
